When you think of Girl Scouting, what comes to mind? Camping with your best friends? Learning life skills that will make you a courageous leader? Giving back to the local community? Absolutely! That is exactly what the Girl Scout Movement instills in girls today. But, one thing that is not on the forefront of our minds is that where our girls meet is just as important as what they are doing.
Safe, regular meeting space for troops to meet in is very important for an effective and fun program. As you know, Girl Scouts—NC Coastal Pines is growing. We need your help to find locations that will host a Girl Scout Troop in order to allow girls to get involved in Girl Scouting!
What are we looking for? Ideal and out-of-the-box locations are:
• churches, temples or mosques
• fire departments,
• office conference rooms after hours
• day care centers
• non-profit offices
• apartment or neighborhood clubhouses
• assisted living facilities
• civic groups with buildings; like the Shriners Club or American Legion
Most troops meet every other week for 1-2 hours. Our volunteers are covered by insurance and pass a criminal background check. Scouts are taught to leave a location better than they found it and to support a host organization with a community service project.
With your help of providing a meeting space, more girls will build their confidence, character and courage and make the world a better place.
