DIRECT SERVICES: Serve as an advocate for victims of domestic violence and their children. This may involve crisis intervention, shelter intakes, building relationships with other agencies, gathering information, referral and follow-up. Participation in a structured volunteer training program is required for those who want to work directly with clients.

CHILDREN’S ADVOCATES: Address the needs of children from violent homes. Assist with programs and outings. Training is provided.  Evening group - Children’s group meets simultaneously with women’s group from 6-8pm on Tuesdays. Also need facilitators for our school/community outreach programs (Safe Dates-teens, Hands are not for Hitting and Words are not for Hurting-elementary age).  Scheduling is flexible. Structured training program is provided.

COURT ADVOCACY: Support victims in the court process or assist in special projects.

ON-CALL WORKERS: Assist with crisis calls during the night to respond to victims of domestic violence as they are referred by Crisis Line.  This may involve going to the hospital or getting a woman into the shelter. 

OFFICE ASSISTANCE: Assist with answering phones, running errands, writing “thank you” notes, telephoning (call lists, canvassing, fundraising), data compilation, copying, and other general office duties.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCACY COUNCIL: Serve as a committee member to engage in projects aimed at eliminating the obstacles victims/survivors face when attempting to leave violent relationships and raise awareness in the community.  (Meetings held monthly)

EVOLVE WILMINGTON!: Serve on a coordinated Community Response Team that focuses on the prevention of domestic violence. The EVOLVE coalition is organized into five population-based community action teams (Business, Education, Faith, Health/Mental Health, and Neighborhood).  Opportunities are vast and can include planning special events to serving on programmatic committees.

SPEAKERS BUREAU: Act as information liaison within the community. Distribute agency information at community booths and fairs. Share information about services to community groups and assist with other outreach efforts.

FUNDRAISING: Assist with special events, including annual Fashion Show/Silent Auction and Fathers for Hope or as a committee member.

VINTAGE VALUES RESALE SHOPS: Assist with processing, pricing, and displaying merchandise for resale, as well as assist customers. Vintage Values Committee members are also needed. Training is provided.

MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS: Assist with routine repairs and basic maintenance at office and shelter location or serve on Property Maintenance Board Committee.
